ABOUT US
Cantux Research is a small engineering studio building electronic instruments that take acoustic playing technique seriously. The eCorder grew out of a simple question: what if a recorder kept everything a player already knows — the fingering, the breath, the articulation — but shed the physical limits that have bounded the instrument for centuries?
Answering it took deep work in the areas that make an instrument like this possible: real-time signal processing, embedded systems, capacitive sensing, and acoustic-modeling synthesis. I'm Michael Shonle, an engineer and recorder player who set out to build the instrument I wanted to play — with a small group of advisors and collaborators who've helped shape it along the way.

If you play the recorder, we'd love to put one in your hands. Come find us — at a show, or just by email.
